Decide how long the account should last

A brief experiment and a daily workspace have different needs. Before entering an address, decide whether you plan to save work, invite teammates, connect another service, or pay. Any of those plans makes future access important.

For an account you want to keep, choose a durable mailbox or an alias you control. A forwarding alias can hide your main address while delivering future messages to it. Mozilla’s Relay documentation describes this model; it is different from opening a temporary inbox that expires.

• Saved conversations or uploaded work: use an address you can revisit.
• Paid account or team workspace: prioritize ownership and recovery.
• Privacy from marketing: consider an individually managed forwarding alias.

Separate acceptance from account access

An address passing a signup form, receiving a code, and remaining useful for account recovery are three separate outcomes. A successful first message only establishes what happened for that request. It does not prove that every temporary domain works or that future access is guaranteed.

This guide does not claim tested compatibility with ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Kling, or another named tool. For a particular service, read its current official signup and recovery guidance. If it rejects the address, use an accepted option instead of relying on a “works everywhere” claim.

Try the official free options first

For ChatGPT, check the official Free plan before looking for a new email address: OpenAI lists a $0 plan. Its web quickstart directs you to sign in at chatgpt.com and select Chat for questions and conversation, or Work for larger tasks. Start with an account you already control and check the current plan details for the features you need. A new inbox is not a requirement for evaluating the free offering.

For Claude, Anthropic lists a Free plan with limited usage and no subscription charge. Its login guide offers Google sign-in or an emailed login link. If you choose email, retain the mailbox: it is part of signing in again, not just a place to receive the first message. Open the emailed link on the device where you requested it; Anthropic explains that opening it on another device produces a code to enter on the original device.

Check which kind of verification the screen requests. Anthropic’s signup guidance also requires new users to verify a phone number from a supported location by text message. An email inbox cannot receive that SMS or replace the phone step. For either tool, use the official access instructions linked below, then evaluate the free plan against your task before considering an upgrade.

Before the inbox expires

If an experiment becomes useful, check the tool’s account settings while you still have access. Where the service supports it, change the account to a durable address and complete any confirmation steps. Do not assume that entering a replacement address completes the change.

If the service does not let you change the address, follow its official support guidance before storing important work or paying. Keep account recovery information in a private place. A copied address alone is not a backup of the inbox.
