8–128 characters. Start with 20 when the service allows it.
2–12 random words from the EFF Long Wordlist (7,776 words). Use six or more for accounts. Repeated words are possible.
1–50 results, each on its own row. Generate only what you need.
Generate, copy, save
- Match the service’s length and character limits. The default is 20 random characters with all four groups. Each selected group appears at least once.
- Copy the result and save it in a password manager before you close this page. A batch contains independent results; there is no account assignment or saved history.
- Use a different result for every account. Enable multi-factor authentication or a passkey when the service supports it.
Length, randomness and reuse
A long password built from independent random choices has more possible combinations than a short one. Human patterns such as names, birthdays and substitutions are predictable. The controls let you meet a service’s rules; mixing symbols is not a universal requirement. NIST’s current guidance calls for at least 15 characters for single-factor passwords and does not require arbitrary composition rules.
When random words help
A passphrase can be easier to type on a television or remember for a password vault. This mode independently selects 2–12 words from the complete EFF English list, joined by the hyphen or space you choose. A repeated word is a valid random outcome. Keep the generated order rather than replacing words with a quote or personal story. Check the service’s maximum length before using it.
What the guidance means
The guidance describes your settings, not a measured time to crack a password. An attacker’s success depends on reuse, phishing, breaches, rate limits and how the service stores passwords. This tool does not check whether a result has appeared in a breach and cannot protect a compromised device or browser.
What stays on your device
Web Crypto supplies the randomness; incomplete sampling ranges and passwords missing a selected character group are discarded. No generated secret is sent to this site, put in a URL or saved to browser storage by this tool. Clear removes the displayed results, and navigation clears them too. Your browser, extensions, screenshots and operating-system clipboard remain outside this tool’s control.
Password generator questions
Why does copying sometimes fail?
Browser permissions and insecure connections can block clipboard access. The result is selected so you can copy it manually. Use HTTPS for the published tool; localhost is suitable for local testing.
Can I recover a result after clearing or leaving?
No. There is no generated-password history. Save the result securely before clearing or leaving. Clearing this page does not clear an existing clipboard entry.
Can I generate passwords without symbols?
Yes. Disable symbols and keep the other permitted groups. Every selected group appears in each password. Turning every group off produces an inline error instead of a weak fallback.
Should I reuse a batch for several accounts?
Assign a separate password to each account and save that association in your password manager. Bulk output is plain text in this page and on the clipboard if copied; handle it carefully. Random generation does not promise global uniqueness.
