How to make random teams
- Paste the names of everyone taking part, one per line.
- Set the number of teams, up to 100.
- Press Make teams, then copy or download the teams. Make teams again for a new split.
Everyone is shuffled first and then dealt to the teams in turn, like cards. When the list does not divide evenly, the first teams get the extra members: 10 people in 3 teams gives teams of 4, 3 and 3.
Fair groups for class, sport and work
Create groups for classroom activities, split players for pickup games, form breakout rooms for workshops or pair colleagues for reviews.
Questions about your draw
Are the teams balanced?
Team sizes differ by at most one. Skills and other personal attributes are not considered, so every split is purely random.
How many teams can I make?
Up to 100 teams, and never more teams than people. Set the number and everyone is spread across them.
How do I make groups of a fixed size?
Divide the number of people by the group size and use that as the number of teams. For 24 people in groups of 4, choose 6 teams.
